Absentee voting may be the
answer!
If
you missed voting last year, absentee voting may be the answer for you.
You can even request absentee voting for a year at a time.
The request must be in writing and you must be a registered voter.
You can also request to make a change (address, etc.) by mail.
The auditor's office will act on your letter, based on your signature.
The Absentee Ballot Application Form is also available on the Internet at
http://www.state.sd.us/sos/absentee/absenapp.htm.
If you are not registered to vote, you can request to register to vote by
mail. Again, they will act on
your letter, based on your signature.
County,
state and federal elections are regularly scheduled every even numbered year in
June and November. Ballots are
always available for these elections six weeks prior to Election Day.
Regular
city elections are scheduled every year in the spring, usually the second
Tuesday in April. A separate
application must be submitted to the City Finance Office.
The City of Rapid City and the Rapid City Area School District have
combined their elections and only one form (submitted to either office) is
needed for this election. Should
there happen to be a special election, you must submit a separate application
to either entity.
