Support Group attains 501c(3) tax exempt status

On May 7, 1998 the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) approved Black Hills Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ Fibromyalgia Syndrome Support Group for non-profit 501c(3) tax exempt status.  The effective date for tax exemption purposes is April 27, 1997.

What does this mean to our support group?  It means that contributions made to the support  group qualify for exemption (as defined in the IRS Booklet 1040).  It also makes us eligible to purchase items for the support group without paying sales tax and makes it possible for us to pay a reduced rate for postage.
